They're stuck in the game and can't get out. We're already out, waiting for the game to finally end. Nobody is in charge though, and we're all on our own.
Rafi, if you’re reading these, I have a question. What would happen if everyone with a savings account in the United States, tomorrow, spent 10% of the account on physical silver… ? Would there be a consequence?
WOW, But I only have a minuscule amount in a real savings account. While heavy into real money and associated stocks, I myself have an extremely small amount in a bonafide savings account and suspect most folks are heavy into Tech Stocks Bitcoin and the General Market rather than savings accounts. 10% of those larger holdings, OR even 2%!.... would send Silver to the Moon Indeed!!
Governments will not give up control easily or quietly. I suspect that when gold and silver begins to skyrocket in value as compared with other commodities, the powers-that-be will simply nationalize the miners and mines. Of course, this will lead to huge problems in the mining industry and create a black market in PMs which will further boost the relative value of gold and silver. Price controls will follow, which will multiply the resulting chaos. There will be period of 'peak gold' (or silver) during the systemic volatility where it will pay to trade a substantial portion of one's hoard for real estate, other commodities, useful businesses, etc. The rub will be knowing when that time has come....
Won’t the powers that be just pivot though when it all blows up? They will just shapeshift the system to accommodate their lust for power/greed/control via CBDC and tokenize all assets under the BIS? I know I’m getting into conspiracy, but isn’t this technically possible, and if it’s technically possible - then where does gold stand in this? They’re never going to relegate power, therefore, shouldn’t we expect mammon to remain in place for the foreseeable future future? (That is until the restitution of all things)
Rafi, Like you on conspiracy theories of controlled commodities/ Gold / etc. I find myself also on a spectrum, but for me on this issue somewhere between JBSwanson and your reply.
Great post Rafi! You should go on "philosophical rants" more often.

the dollar would likely die and goods and services would have to be priced in silver ounces

You can't pivot into space. Nobody can escape economic law. They do not have a magic wand.
