How I Would Move To A Gold Standard

Cut everything to the bone, prepare to pay the army, police and courts with gold, move to protect the food and gold/silver supplies, default on the debt, let the banks die & leave big cities alone.

People in my neighborhood are now frantically asking me if Trump is really moving to a gold standard, and other permutations of the same question. This is not something you can just "do" as if it's some sort of magic formula. The basic reality of physical existence is that there are a finite amount of resources with claims on the gold that can claim those resources distributed around the planet. The reality is that most of those claims on gold are fake at the current exchange rate between those claims and gold.

"Moving to a gold standard" means revealing the fakeness of about 90% of those claims (this would be the number if we're at about a 10% backing of Fed liabilities at the current gold price), and since all the claims are fungible, it means cutting the purchasing power of these claims by an order of magnitude overnight. That means that the about 99% of humanity that owns absolutely no money whatsoever will wake up the next day and find they can only afford to acquire about a tenth of of the resources they imagined they could only a night before. This will create chaos in the streets. They will be forced to liquidate any and all resources they have in order to acquire money in order to acquire food. Stackers will acquire most of those resources.

So no, Trump is not moving to a gold standard, unless he is prepared to institute martial law and kill a bunch of people.

What is the best way forward here then? If I were in charge, I would radically cut everything I could, slash and burn and sell off government assets, return any profits made in the sale of government assets to the people as tax rebates, and maximize everyone's holdings of real assets as much as I could. I would focus on paying law enforcement with whatever real money I had primarily to prevent mass rioting and cut everything else to the bone.

I would do what my ancestor Joseph did in Egypt and protect food supplies and gold and silver supplies across the country from being looted. After spending was cut as much as possible and all assets sold off except national security and funding for courts, the minarchist essentials, only then would I announce a debt default and a refusal to pay any Treasury coupons, and let all the banks die. At that point, a gold standard would establish itself by market forces without me having to declare an exchange rate.

I would pay law enforcement and courts with gold, and from there both government gold and any private stacks would start to circulate.

Trump cannot "declare a gold standard" before seriously preparing for the fallout. If he thinks it's just a financial trick to put smiles on libertarian faces, he's going to trigger pandemonium. For all our sakes, I pray he does not simply "declare a gold standard" before seriously preparing for mass civil unrest, which will happen no matter what. The more he prepares for it, the more manageable it will be.

I fear that no matter what, it will not be manageable in the biggest cities. The Sodoms and Gomorrahs of the world are too far gone to be saved, but Canaan lived on after the destruction of the Dead Sea basin. So will the United States, in one form or another. The suburbs and countryside are salvageable.

We will get through this. The US has the best leadership it's ever had since Andrew Jackson, in my opinion. There will be no better team than this. Like it or not, this is the best we can do in our current situation. If the End Game is going to happen, it best happen under their watch, under at least a handful of people who aren't actively trying to murder us and squeeze us for everything we've got.

They're not great. But they seem like decent human beings. And that, itself, is miraculous.
