RRPs fund T-Bills. Bank reserves fund taxes. No RRPs to fund T-Bills, bank reserves must fund T-bills AND taxes. Repocalypse follows.
I found the RRPs on the Fed’s H41 release.
I have always been unclear as to where exactly reverse repos exist in the monetary system. Meaning, what category do they belong in? I have found the answer, and it confirms my theory that once RRPs fall to zero, bank reserves are going to fall fast. Below is the amount of RRPs for August 14, $328.472B.
